Under administrative direction of the Library Board of Trustees is responsible for direction, management and strategic vision of the City library and library staff, preparation and administration of operating and capital budgets and planning, organizing, directing and coordinating library services or programs. Serves as advisor to the Library Board of Trustees by providing analysis, recommendation and course on all aspects of the library operations. This position entails considerable initiative and independent judgment and the ability to work with others to accomplish goals and objectives of the Library Board of Trustees, the Library and the City.

Library Assistant (part-time) - East St. Louis Community College Center

The Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market (SICCM) has a vacancy for a part-time, (Evenings: Monday - Thursday) Library Assistant at the East St. Louis Community College Center.  The East St. Louis Community College Center is an instructional center for community college-sponsored programs and services serving the residents of the East St. Louis, IL area.  This position assumes the following responsibilities: manage serials/subscriptions, barcoding/cataloging, manuscript processing, shelving, small group instruction as needed, staff help desk, professional development as needed, and other duties as assigned.

Teen Services Librarian - City of Madison (WI)

Teen Services Librarian

Current vacancy is salaried at 80% FTE (32 hours/week) and would be based at the MEADOWRIDGE BRANCH located at 5740 Raymond Road, Madison, WI.   

This is responsible professional library work that focuses on library services for teens. The work entails significant involvement with library wide youth services teams and initiatives as well as community partnerships and collaborations.  The position also functions within the context of a branch library that provides a range of public library services to all ages.

Employees may be assigned to a variety of library programs, services and functions necessitating judgment and discretion in their development and implementation. Employees may lead and/or coordinate subordinates as assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Librarian 3 or Library Supervisor. This series is structured to provide advancement from Librarian 1 to Librarian 2 (consistent with bargaining agreement provisions).

Reference Librarian - Chatham Area Public Library District

Local History / Genealogy Room Reference Librarian  

The Chatham Area Public Library District in Chatham, IL is seeking an innovative and service-oriented professional responsible for reference, readers’ advisory, creating displays and creating and maintaining a digital library collection for their Opal Lee Chatham Local History and Genealogy Room. This full-time position, with 20 hours devoted to reference services and 20 hours devoted to Chatham’s local history and genealogy services gives the applicant the opportunity to work in a spacious facility in a growing community with a strong commitment to customer service.

Chatham, IL is located in Central Illinois and is a bedroom community about five miles from the state capital Springfield.  Chatham is two hours from St. Louis, MO and has an estimated population of 10,500.

Assistant Director-Edwardsville Public Library

Edwardsville is a busy town with a population of over 24,000. We are looking for an Assistant Director who has flexibility, a sense of humor, and the ability to take directions, work without direct supervision, and supervise others. The candidate would have an even temperament and a continuing and active interest in reading in a variety of subject areas.

Skill and Education requirements:

  • Preferred education and experience:  Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA library education program and 2 years supervisory experience.

Assistant Dean of Business Operations - UIUC

Position Available:         July 16, 2013.

 

This is a full-time, regular, Academic Professional position in the University Library.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Dean for Business Operations  is responsible for the operation and provision of the University Library’s Business Services, participates in the  formulation of the University Library’s fiscal policy, is responsible for the preparation of the budget in consultation with the Dean of Libraries, interacts on behalf of the Library with campus fiscal administrators, performs liaison activities with college and department head managers on projects of joint interest, represents the Library at campus meetings, prepares budget forecasts, provides management information to Library Administration, and otherwise is the primary Fiscal Officer for the University Library, overseeing a total budget in excess of $40-million. The Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of Libraries, oversees the work of Associate Director and other support staff within the Library Business Office.
