Eastern Illinois University’s Booth Library is seeking a Librarian to serve as Head of Reference in a 12-month, tenure-track position. Responsibilities include: leading a dynamic and evolving library reference department in an environment of professional collegiality and collaboration; overseeing library instruction, providing faculty and student outreach, and developing collaborative teaching and learning opportunities. Additional duties may include collection development and liaison for business, selected science disciplines, or government documents.

The Lincoln Library is seeking an individual to develop and direct the operation of Technical Services; coordinate current activities while planning and recommending new methods as appropriate; establish standards and procedures for technical aspects of acquisitions, cataloging, data entry and processing of print and electronic materials or images; and perform and direct highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge, its application and exercise of independent judgment. Requires a Master's Degree in Library Science with 5 years cataloging and 2 years supervisory experience. Experience with OCLC Connexion, FRBR, RDA and digital image meta-data preferred. Weekend and evening work hours also required.

Schedule includes daytime, evening and weekend hours and averages approximately 20-25 hours per week:

The ideal candidate be interested in working in a customer service oriented organization, have excellent verbal and written communication skills; is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and possesses strong general computer and research skills.  

Duties include responding to customer inquiries either in person or by phone, readers’ advisory and reference; assisting patrons in use of the online catalog and the library's research tools; and performing all duties associated with an automated circulation system. Applicants must also have the ability to lift twenty-five pounds.

TECHNICAL SERVICES Library Operations Associate - Electronic Resources and Serials
Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the Electronic Resources and Serials Library Operations Associate is responsible for the acquisition and management of print serials and electronic continuing resources, including databases, archival subject collections and journals. Duties include managing the daily operations related to procuring, licensing, negotiating, tracking, and providing access to electronic resources and print serials; maintaining and updating serial holdings records in the library integrated library system; obtaining purchase requisitions and orders; submitting invoices for payment, keeping required and accurate records of transactions using institutional ERP system and departmental documentation procedure; collecting and analyzing data and statistics and preparing departmental and other reports; managing the operation of the electronic resources management systems (ERM, Serials Solutions 360 Resource Manager/Counter); liaising with the Library Systems Manager to maintain the link resolver and proxy server; reviewing workflows for efficiency and effectiveness; serving as the library's point person on issues and questions related to e-resources and serials; staying abreast of emerging trends and best practices related to e-resources and serials; serving on relevant library and university committees; and participating in professional organizations that focus on electronic continuing resources and serials; The job also requires providing reference desk services; supervising two student workers responsible for serials/index stacks maintenance, bindery management, and other duties as assigned.
