Dear Public Library Directors and Associate Directors,

We commend all that you do to serve your communities every single day, and we recognize that the recent decisions to close your library, reduce hours, or limit services may not have been easy ones to make. During this tough situation, we encourage you to stay in touch with each other and with us. We’ll be including opportunities to connect and support each other in our periodic email updates, including our semi-weekly Directors’ Chats. These chats, which are chatroom-based, were scheduled by member request for 1 p.m. on several upcoming Mondays and Thursdays. Find the schedule and the transcript to the first COVID-19 Directors' Chat on the IHLS COVID-19 page.

In an effort to gauge the broad impact of COVID-19 on central and southern Illinois, we have crafted a short survey intended to provide a snapshot of what public libraries are currently doing. To help provide an accurate picture, we ask you to please complete this 3-minute survey by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 22.

We will share the results with you next week. Thank you in advance for sharing a few minutes of your time.

Warmly,
Leslie

Executive Director

Update: This survey was closed on Friday, March 20, at 3:15 PM CT--earlier than originally planned in anticipation of a shelter-in-place mandate expected to be announced during a 3 PM press briefing.
