Illinois Heartland Library System is a multitype regional library system. Our members include public, school, academic, and special libraries. IHLS provides delivery, talking book and LLSAP (online catalog) support to our member libraries.

IHLS covers 28,368 square miles and serves a population of 2,160,469. As of fall 2022, there were 523 member libraries:

• 29 Academic Libraries
• 227 Public Libraries
• 239 School Libraries
• 28 Special Libraries

Of the 523 IHLS member libraries, 338 at 467 locations participate in the IHLS automation consortium known as SHARE.
