CMC Pandemic Activity
During the last few weeks, the Cataloging Maintenance Center (CMC) staff have been busy working from home cleaning up records for the PrairieCat (RAILS system partner) database, SHARE database, transcribing oral histories for Marshall Public Library, and preparing and presenting webinars for SWAN (RAILS system partner).
The CMC also received six items via PDF to catalog. While cataloging items via PDF is not a common practice for the CMC, doing so in these unusual times is a service the CMC is happy to provide.
A few of the books we received are: Do it for Chappie, a book about Ray Chapman, a shortstop for the Cleveland Indians, who was fatally struck by a ball while competing for the World Series in 1920; a Plat Book from 1940 of Williamson County, Illinois; and two reprinted books by Forgotten Books -- The History of Williamson County, Illinois, which includes murders, crimes, vendettas, and The Life of Logan Belt, the Noted Desperado of Southern Illinois, a book about an Illinoisan who was sentenced to prison for the death of Dock Oldam, was re-arrested for the murder of Luke Hambrink, acquitted, and then assassinated in 1887.
