We have identified an issue where duplicate barcodes may become scratched or rubbed away, compromising their functionality.

To address this concern, we will implement label protectors for Option 1 libraries at the system hubs during the duplication process. This measure will help ensure the durability and longevity of the barcodes in our shared systems. An addendum to the original Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) for Option 1 libraries, which specifically approves the application of label protectors over the barcodes, was sent on Nov. 1, 2024. If your library has not yet completed the original IGA, that will be voided, and the corrected IGA will be re-sent.

It is important that Option 1 libraries approve the addendum in DocuSign as soon as possible, as we are duplicating barcodes for 136 libraries. To effectively track the application of the protectors, we will wait until we have received approval from all libraries before proceeding with the application.

Option 2 and 3 libraries may request label protectors equal to the number of items circulated outside of your library in 2023 by emailing Deliver & Facilities Director, Colleen Dettenmeier directly.
