Averie Carlton

Averie Carlton (they/them) is a student in the last semester of the MLIS program at UNC Greensboro. Originally from Florida, Averie earned their Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and Illustration from Flagler College before eventually relocating to Wilmington, North Carolina. They volunteered at the library in their hometown for nearly a decade, worked at the circulation desk, and then moved out of state. Having grown up around libraries, Averie was inspired by the good public libraries do for their communities to pursue librarianship. They discovered an enjoyment of cataloging through their MLIS program and chose a practicum with the Cataloging Maintenance Center (CMC) to gain knowledge and hands-on cataloging experience with the CMC team. In their free time, Averie enjoys video games, reading (mostly fantasy, sci-fi, and horror), and watching long-form video essays about random topics.
